Peter Shane invited me to Ohio State University last month to participate in this symposium. I presented my research on unmet local information needs in a small community in North Carolina. That presentation will form the basis of a journal article in I/S: A Journal of Law and Policy for the Information Society. This is my Storify record of the symposium as a whole.

I study and write about media and technology policy and the information needs of communities.
I'm passionate about the power of networked information to improve our democracy.
I work as an Associate in Research at the DeWitt Wallace Center for Media and Democracy at Duke University's Sanford School of Public Policy.
I also contribute to the Media Policy Initiative of the New America Foundation as a part-time research fellow. MPINAF published my case study of the Triangle area's information ecology.
